Education

Magejjo Primary School was established in 1987. Over the years its buildings have been continually improved and it now has 500 pupils. However, it is still lacking basic equipment and there are insufficient teachers for the number of pupils.

The mural on the wall was painted by staff and pupils under the direction of Alice Rochester, a pupil of St. Francis' College, Letchworth Garden City, Herts. She spent three months of her gap year in 2000 helping teach in the school and the wider community.

40% of the children in the school are orphaned due to their parents having died from HIV/AIDS. These children were coming to school hungry, and so through the help of donations, the children are now able to receive food at school.
