A Dispensary was opened in 1992 in a one-room building and Nurse Flavia, a qualified nurse, was appointed. In 1998 the people built a more spacious Dispensary with the help of a grant from the European Development Fund. When necessary, people can be cared for overnight. In 2003 a registered midwife, Nurse Gorretti, was appointed to add to the services on offer. In 2006 a theatre was constructed allowing people to have minor surgery. A Doctor visits the project one day each week.

A community based health care scheme was established in 2004. The programme is headed by a qualified health worker, who is assisted by eight local volunteers. The health worker and two volunteers visit all the households within the Kanyike Project area stressing the importance of health hygiene as a means for the prevention of diseases.

The sources of seven of the nine springs have been improved so that the place where water is collected is clean.
